The 2003 Ellis Island Family Heritage Awards Honorees:

Yogi Bera accepts a 2003 Family Heritage Award at Ellis Island from Lee Iacocca ENTERTAINMENT: Bob Hope -One of the most famous Ellis Island immigrants is also one of the world's most beloved entertainers. He will be celebrating his 100th birthday in May 2003.

SPORTS: Yogi Berra - The son of Ellis Island immigrants, this beloved baseball legend has won more World Series rings than any player in history.

MEDICINE/SCIENCE: Dr. Anthony Fauci - This grandson of Ellis Island immigrants is a pioneering AIDS researcher and scientific leader, serving as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institute of Health.

GOVERNMENT SERVICE: Abie Abraham - This exemplar of the "Greatest Generation" fought with distinction in World War II, enduring the Bataan Death March and years of brutal captivity. A grandson of Ellis Island immigrants, he was profiled in the best-selling book Ghost Soldiers.

PERFORMING ARTS: Cicely Tyson - This star of stage, screen and film, acclaimed for her portrayal of strong female characters, traces her family roots from the Caribbean through Ellis Island.
