New York, NY (June 2010) – For 30 years, Barbie® has celebrated diversity around the globe with the Dolls of the World® Collection, featuring dolls adorned in authentic native costumes. This summer, the best of the collection comes together for the first time, representing more than 40 nations across all seven continents through a special exhibit on Ellis Island

On display in the Railroad Ticket Office from June 16 through August 15, the exhibit includes interesting facts about each doll and country, giving visitors an opportunity to locate their heritage through Barbie®. Families can connect to their heritage in a fun and interactive way by filling out a Barbie® passport, answering questions about their heritage found through the museum, and having their passport stamped while at Ellis Island. Also debuting is the Barbie Landmark Doll Collection, a brand new line celebrating the most iconic landmarks around the globe, including the Statue of Liberty

On August 6th, a special event will take place at the base of the Statue of Liberty, “Living Dolls.” Models wearing some of the most celebrated costumes from the Dolls of the World® Collection will showcase their traditional garb, along with the new Landmark doll costumes. While each model walks, the audience will learn cultural and fashion facts about each country. The “Living Dolls” presentation will be held at 10am, 12pm and 2pm ET on Liberty Island.

The Statue of Liberty Barbie®, part of the new Landmark Doll Collection, is available for a limited time through The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation’s website

Although the Barbie® Dolls of the World exhibit is over, you can still revisit the exhibit online and watch the video of Barbie’sopening party:
